There are many many reasons why I love books. You can do almost anything with the help of a book. Here are just a few reasons why I love them.
1. They relieve stress
2. You can travel to strange new places, planets, and times
3. You can break the laws of physics, nature, and reality as you know it
4. You can fall in love a million times
5. They allow you to become a different person
6. You can learn new things
7. You can live happily ever after
8. You can have an emotional experience
9. You can see things through someone else's eyes
10. You can be a kid again

Cats Vs Dogs
A while back my friend Jamie asked me to watch her dog, Jack, while she went out of town for the weekend. Jack was a handful. He had never been away from his owner and even though he was darn cute; he was needy, smelly, messy, and sometimes tiresome. I have always liked dogs just fine. After my experience with Jack I wasn't so sure on the dog front. About six weeks later my roommate brought home a stray cat.
We'd had a conversation as roommates the night before when one roommate declared they wanted a cat. I said I didn't care and the other roommate said she knew where we could find one. I woke up the next morning to a very pretty, hungry, and curious kitty running up and down my hallway. To make a long story short... the roommate who wanted a cat in the first place flaked out and decided she didn't want to take care of her. The cat ended up mine.
Cat's are so much more low maintenance than dogs in my opinion. Callie is the cat's name and I have owned her for almost 18 months now. She is cuddly when I need her to be and entertains herself when I am busy. I never have to worry about her making messes in the house, and she is fun to have around. Needless to say I am glad my roommate brought home the stray cat she found on her walk home from school.
Here are some pictures. Enjoy.

Mind reading for Dummies
I am not a mind reader. If someone wants me to do something I am more than willing to do it as long as they let me know. It is maddening when someone just expects you to know or do exactly what they want when they want it without so much as mentioning a word of it. Since I don't have mind reading abilities here is my rant of the day. If you want something use your words. You can't get what you want unless you actually let people know you want it.

Real Writers Write
So it has been over a year since I last posted. Crazy how fast time can fly. I don't have any good excuses as to why I haven't posted. I was busy... I moved.... I changed jobs... changed my direction in life... What can I say, life happens.
I've been writing a lot lately. I've really missed it. It's funny how you can loose sight of a dream you had as a kid. I wanted to be a writer once. I knew I could do it back then. I think I still can. It comes down to the fact that real writers write. I'l try to blog on a more regular basis from now on. No promises though.

Hello 2012!
So it has been over six months since I last blogged. Let's just say I got really busy! I'll sum it up very briefly. I was called to be the 1st counselor in the relief society, babysat a dog, got two new roommates, (One, an old friend that I absolutely adore, the other... well just to put it mildly was kind of hell in heels... hooray she is now gone for good! Her replacement seems nice.) Continuing... Shari and I got a cat, I got released from the relief society presidency, I got a new job that I love, I've made some fun new friends, said goodbye to some old ones, cleaned my room several times, continued working on my novel, got through the holidays, and had a really fun time ringing in 2012! My sister and several friends said I need to blog more often so they can keep up with my life. I will try to blog as often as possible in 2012. I am excited for a fresh new year that has endless possibilities. Keep reading to find out what happens!

Fantastic Jams
Today I made three different kinds of freezer jam. It was a lot of fun learning how to make it. I must also admit that it is scrum-diddly-umptious! I made raspberry, strawberry and blackberry jam. I called my Aunt Vivian and told her that I had this brilliant idea to make jam since berries are on sale right now at Costco. Since she is amazing at jams and canning and all sorts of fantabulous stuff like that I wanted her to help me with it. All growing up my mom would make freezer jam. I remember sometimes stirring it for her. Since I had never made it by myself I didn't quite know what to expect. We ended up making it at my Aunt Viv's house. I also invited my mom to come up and make it with us. She came and we all had a blast! I can now say that I can successfully make jam. Since it is of the freezer variety it will probably last a very long while! Yay!

I Have the Greatest Friends!
Yesterday was definitely a hard day for me. As you know from my last blog post my dear cousin Brittney passed away yesterday. I have had a really hard time with it. Last night a few of my friends showed up at my apartment to comfort me and to just be there with me. Colette Dalton, Jacob Miller and Sara Pennepacker all came to provide me with hugs, back rubs and cuddling. I couldn't ask for better friends. I really needed that. Sara even cleaned up the glass on my bathroom floor from the shower incident last Friday that I had been putting off doing. They stayed with me until after another friend, Scott Shattuck, came with his roommate, (and my new friend Ammon,) to give me a blessing of comfort. Sometimes when things are hard all you need is to know that your friends care and that they are there to give you physical affection! I sure know that mine care, and I really appreciate them for it!
